Thank you to those who have already submitted proposals for the Writing Irish Art History symposium on 20 November 2010. We are endeavouring to acknowledge your submission within three days. If you do not receive an email acknowledgment within this time, please contact us: writingirisharthistory@gmail.com

We welcome submissions from post-graduate and early-career researchers as well as independent historians with an interest in the historiography of Irish art, architecture and material culture.

Many different histories of Irish culture have been written. Exploring the methods and motivations of generations of authors continues to provide fruitful new areas for investigation. Some of the sources we have found useful in our research include: Gerald of Wales, William Camden, Geoffrey Keating, Donatus Mooney, Anthony Pasquin, James Barry, George Petrie, 19th century travel writers in Ireland as well as modern and contemporary writers.

More information on the venue location, travel etc etc will be posted in due course. Provisionally we anticipate that the day will run from approximately 10. 30 am to 3.30 pm.

We would like to thank our sponsors TRIARC : Trinity Irish Art Research Centre at Trinity College Dublin, and Four Courts Press, Dublin, one of Ireland's leading academic book publishers, for their generous support of this event.
